Research shows that play contributes to children's physical and emotional health, well-being, approach to learning and enjoyment of school.
Children in British primary schools spend 20% or 1.4 years of their school life in play. This is why at Pinhoe, we have decided to make play a priority.
The OPAL Primary Programme offers schools a structured process, with mentored support provided for up to two years and many resources, to enable schools to permanently change both their environment and their culture to enable provision of amazing playtimes every day.
Over the next two years, Pinhoe will be embarking on a journey with our playtimes. We will be changing the way in which adults and children think about and talk about play. We will be allowing the children to reimagine spaces and objects to make them more significant in their play.
We hope that you will support us on this journey as we learn and grow so that our play times can be the most beneficial, creative and fun for the children as possible.
