Teaching Assistant Vacancy

We are looking to appoint a Speech and Language Teaching Assistant to join our busy team in September 2020.  The successful applicant will be working as a Specialist Teaching Assistant across all areas of the school and preschool, dependent on need, with small groups and/or on a 1:1 basis.  The focus of the role will be on supporting children who have speech and language, special educational needs. It may also be necessary on occasion, for the successfully appointed applicant to support in a generic Teaching Assistant capacity too.


The new colleague we appoint, will have demonstrable experience and specialist knowledge and skills in devising, planning and delivering speech and language interventions and support programmes.  You will have experience of undertaking this kind of work in a school environment or similar.  This post may suit either a graduate or experienced qualified speech and language therapist, looking for a professional development opportunity.


You will be an autonomous and pro-active team player, capable of providing high quality and specialist interventions, with support from colleagues, but minimal supervision.  You will also be required to assist the school's lunchtime provision.  The post is temporary due to budgets and is currently expected to be available until 31st August 2021.  It is possible that the successful candidate will be able to work for the school beyond this date, subject to ongoing funding.  While this role is based at Pinhoe School, we have recently federated with Woodbury C of E VA Primary School.  Occasional travel to Woodbury may be necessary for meetings or to support any speech and language intervention programmes there.

Please note that this is a term time only position, meaning the pay is 39 weeks of salary divided into twelve, equal monthly payments with additional holiday pay.

Pre-School Bank Staff
